General Information

Highfield Festival

After twelve successful years in Thuringia the biggest indie rock festival in eastern Germany is held in Saxony since 2010. The festival grounds are located on the peninsula of Magdeborn on the shores of the Störmthal lake in the municipality of Großpösna next to Leipzig. The area offers plenty of space for three days of live concerts of national and international acclaim. The camping area is equally spacious and can accommodate all 35,000 Highfield fans – and more. People who like to camp a little more comfortably may take advantage of one of many lodging possibilities offering a superior camping experience. Of course, all guests can relax if they want to – thanks to the Störmthal lake that also offers adrenalin rushes: The possibilities range from banana boats and tube riding to kiting, paddle boards and beach volleyball. The festival’s very own radio station Beck’s Camp FM broadcasts live from the festival – and is available online all year round.

There is also a lot happening at the beach during Highfield! From banana boat and tube riding to beach volleyball, a lot is being planned. You can really look forward to it, and above all: Make sure you pack your swimming gear!

You will be allowed to access the campsite and festival grounds only with a festival wristband. These wristbands are issued in exchange for your valid admission ticket at the transit points between the car park and campsite. The site map will show you where your “cash desk” / wristband issuing point is located. If you are part of a group, it makes sense for you to look after each other’s luggage, while the others are collecting their wristbands. The wristband will be attached to your wrist. At the wristband issuing point you will also receive a flyer with the festival programme, the most important information, and the site map, so that you will always know what’s going on (all information and other features are also available from our Festival App). Admission is especially quick if you use our fast lane.

Admission to the festival and event grounds is possible only with an original festival wristband with an original, undamaged and closed seal! If this is not the case, you are not entitled to be admitted.

There are loads of essential things that you will definitely need to take with you to the festival, in order to feel comfortable and ready for all eventualities. We have listed some of these here. Remember that at first you will have to carry your luggage a long way. Sometimes less is more!

  • Tent (don’t forget the pegs!)
  • Sleeping bag
  • Air mattress/sleeping mat
  • Small padlock to secure your tent
  • Camping cooker
  • Plates, mugs and cutlery
  • Lighter/matches
  • Tin opener
  • Flashlight, batteries
  • Car keys/keys to your home
  • Mobile phone
  • Earplugs (our partner on site is www.alpine.eu)
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Shower gel/shampoo
  • Soap
  • Towel
  • Sunscreen
  • Condoms/pill

The right clothing is also important. You should be prepared for all kinds of weather. A hat or a cap and sunglasses will protect you from strong sunshine, but you should also make sure to have rainproof gear with you. Remember that it can get quite cold at night, even if it has been scorching hot all day.
There is a wide variety of different kinds of food stands on the festival grounds, but you are also allowed to pack a small lunch packet for the festival grounds.
When camping we also recommend that you provide your own food and drinks. We sell almost everything cheaply at PENNY, our supermarket.

Important documents:

  • Money/bank card
  • Driving license/vehicle registration papers
  • Personal ID

It is best to keep your documents and your cash in a money belt, so that you can always carry your valuables on your person. Leave any bank cards and keys that you do not need at home, so that they don’t get lost.

The Info Point is located at the entrance to the event grounds. You will receive a site map there, as well as all the important information about the festival. The Info Point also contains the lost property office and much more.

During the festival, lost property can be handed into the collected from the Info Point.

When Highfield is all over, many memories, but also lost property remains behind. Over the course of the week the lost property will be sent to the Town Hall in Gr0ßpösna. If you have lost something, you are welcome to contact the town’s lost property office.

Please write an e-mail to the following address:

Describe the item precisely and provide your address and a telephone number where you can be reached.

Please do not enquire by telephone, since the lost property office will be too busy collecting and categorising the lost property. Thank you.
